In a relatively short amount of time, James Singer has lost his wife, his job, his home, his friends and, amongst it all, his identity and his subsequent place in the world. None of that seems to matter, though, when reality itself begins to shift and deteriorate around him, for it is in these shifts that James is often forced, in the most unusual of ways, to examine the various compunctions of his life.
As James phases uncontrollably in and out of his own reality—and another inhabited by an antagonistic and shadowy phantasm—he is repeatedly and inexplicably whisked away to strange new worlds, inhabited by quirky, non-conventional and often down-right absurd characters. James doesn’t know if he’s dreaming, in the throes of a nervous breakdown or if he’s already dead but one thing he does know is that, one way or another, it all ends on Monday.
The Esoterian is a collection of poetry containing both traditional and contemporary styles. Through an emotional and often philosophical lens, it addresses—among other topics—death, spirituality, mind control, counterculture, love, purpose, regret, maturation, mental illness and the inescapable grasp of time.
